Graham Smith (milliner)

Graham Smith (born in Bexley, 19 January 1938) is a milliner from Kent, England. He was educated at Dartford Grammar School before studying at Bromley College of Art, 1956–57, and the Royal College of Art, London, 1958–59.

Career

Smith worked for Lanvin, Paris, 1958–59; Michael of Carlos Place, London, 1960–67; before establishing his own company. He was appointed the Consultant Design Director at Kangol Limited, 1981–91, where he reversed its stodgy image; created hat collection for BHS stores, 1990s.

Graham has been described as a "milliner's milliner". His creations have proved favourites of celebrities and royalty, and have been part of the uniform for British Airways flight attendants.
